FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Washington, D.C., December 29, 2022 – Warwick Group Consultants, the nation’s leading coastal advocacy firm, has secured $21.2 million in funding from the Department of Homeland Security, Transportation, Housing and Urban Development (THUD), and Interior and Environment appropriations bills during the Fiscal Year 2023 budget process. This funding will be used to support projects on both the east and west coasts including:

·         $10,000,000 for the City of North Wildwood, NJ to build an emergency seawall

·         $2,600,000 for the City of Tybee Island, GA for stormwater improvements

·         $7,000,000 for the City of Solana Beach, CA for roadway improvements

·         $1,600,000 for the City of San Clemente, CA for improved roadway drainage

The City of North Wildwood has experienced life-threatening conditions that warranted emergency action along its seawall. The City will receive $1,000,000 in support through the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Pre-Disaster Mitigation (PDM) grant program. This will ensure protection of life, property and critical infrastructure that is critically threatened due to storms and erosion.

The City of Tybee Island, GA is undertaking a major stormwater management project. This funding will allow the City to install a new stormwater detention system, large outfalls, and pump stations in an effort to reduce flooding on the island.

Lomas Santa Fe Drive is the primary east-west arterial running through the City of Solana Beach. This funding will bolster the City’s ongoing roadway improvements that will increase multi-modal transportation across the city and ensure the safety of pedestrians and bicyclists.

San Clemente, CA is engaging in a project that will reduce flooding and stormwater overflow along Avenida Cordoba and Vila Avila. This funding will allow the City to relieve flooding along asphalt streets, and recharge local, natural groundwater systems and systems.

Founded in 1986, Warwick Group Consultants is the nation’s leading coastal advocacy firm, helping coastal communities and nonprofit organizations secure federal policies and funding to address erosion, sea level rise, and climate change.
