WARWICK GROUP LANDS SIGNIFICANT WINS IN WATER RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT ACT of 2022

Washington, D.C., December 23, 2022 -- Warwick Group Consultants, the nation’s leading coastal advocacy firm, has achieved multiple legislative victories for clients and coastal communities in the biennial Water Resources Development Act of 2022 (WRDA). The firm was successful in authorizing increased program spending limits and getting crucial programs and authorizations implemented in this reauthorization including:
- Increasing Environmental Infrastructure limits for North Myrtle Beach, Myrtle Beach, and Horry County by $122,000,000
- Securing a provision to extend the City of Tybee Island’s beach nourishment project by 12 years
- Specific legislation for federal beach nourishment projects requiring the Federal Government to pay any additional increase in project costs due to a new or existing federal policy that affects the federal beach nourishment project as it was originally authorized
- Authorization of a federal feasibility study for coastal storm risk management and ecosystem restoration, Waikiki, HI
These key legislative victories ensure communities will have access to adequate stormwater management resources, longevity of critical beach nourishment projects, indemnity from federal cost increases, as well as project planning and studies that address shoreline erosion and ecosystem restoration.
